5 Reasons You Should Be Scared of Apple |... →
So what’s wrong with the secrecy? Absolutely nothing. Except when it indirectly leads to torture and suicide. Then it’s probably time for management to throttle things back just a smidge. It was reportedearlier this year, that Apple reached that point over a possible leak of an iPhone prototype.

Roger McGuinn Tried to Sway Metallica on Downloads... →
Metallica might not have faced a well-publicized fan backlash had the band listened to former Byrds frontman Roger McGuinn. When Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich was set to testify before Congress against file sharing back in 2000, McGuinn tells Spinner that he tried to convince Ulrich that downloads were the future. “I talked to Lars, but he didn’t seem to get it,” says McGuinn,...

The current pandemic of Swine Flu has claimed less than 3,000 lives. Well… that’s still pretty bad, right? After all, that’s like a flu-caused 9/11. Then again, the ordinary flu, that gives us the sniffles every year? That one kills several hundred thousand people around the world.
The reason for the early panic is that they believed this virus was a descendant of the 1918...
5 Ways You're Secretly Being Monitored →
It’s so easy to tune out the crazy bloggers and Alex Jones types, screaming that the NWO is watching your every move. After all, these guys are paranoid about everything, all the time, so there’s probably nothing to it. Right?
Well, whether or not there is actually a massive room full of government operatives monitoring everything you say or type, you are being tracked. Whether...
5 Superheroes Rendered Ridiculous by Gritty... →
“Now, there’s nothing wrong with dark and gritty superhero stories, we love The Dark Knight Returns andWatchmen. But when you take the humor and heart away from Spider-Man and stick him in a terrifyingly grim future that finds him heartbroken, you take away everything that attracted Spider-Man readers in the first place. And, sure, guilt has been a hallmark in the Spider-Man comics...

I accidentally scratched a spot on the side of my face. It was a small unassuming thing, had no real agenda and could’ve quietly be left alone to fade away unnoticed, had it not taken my actions as a deliberate hostile attack. In retaliation it has tripled in size, gone big and red and sore and has no intentions of disappearing quietly.
Donating to charity is selfish
I’ve finished watching a repeat of Richard Dawkins’s The Genius of Charles Darwin, The Fifth Ape. I never caught it the first time around. In this episode Dawkins was trying understand how kindness and morality fits in with Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution.
Part of the reason, Dawkins says, comes from kin selection, where an animal will sacrifice itself or its safety in...

Seth Rogen doesn't like me sleeping in
Imagine you wake up one morning but there’s something wrong with your body. You can’t move. There’s no one holding you down and you’re not pinned down by anything, you just can’t move a single muscle. You would try to call for help but your mouth won’t work either. Even worse you feel like you can’t breathe. You’re panicking and you need help but you...

Terrifying. Racism is truly terrifying.
True it is scary… I suppose letting white supremacists in the army is like throwing petrol on an already blazing fire?
I had a quick gander at the U.S Department of Defence directive that re-emphasizes it’s policy on prohibiting members of racist organisations from joining the army and the last line from this particular paragraph...
I must must must finally buy that comb today…. No, at least 3 combs because I’m bound to lose 2 of them inside this week..
My hair is now too long* and wild to never be without one at all times. My hair brushing solution so far has either been to wash it every day and mould it into shape when wet or just not leave the house.

What follows this short introduction is from a file on a disc full of material I saved from my old laptop. It’s dated 14th October 2008 and looks as though it was the start of some sort freewriting exercise (hence some of the slightly pretentious but poorly written lines in the first paragraph) but then I think it became something else. It made me think it’s time to dust the cobwebs...

A: It is the belief that a two-thousand-year-old jewish zombie, can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him that you accept him as your master so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-women was convinced by a talking snake to eat an apple of a magical tree in a wonderland.

16. As a child I had that Disney film The Rescuers Down Under on video. You know the one with the mice… Anyway I loved it and pretended to actually be in the film while I watched it in my living room when I was alone in the house. I don’t mean I just sat there and day dreamed I fully acted out scenes and spoke lines aloud. It was a sad, but even sadder was the fact that those cartoon...
James Bond & Miss Moneypenny
Growing up with T.V. and film has meant that I have often romanticized my life and the relationships I’ve had with other people. This was particularly true in my teens when I would draw parallels between relationships and situations I had with the people around me, in particularromantic ones with girls, to characters and situations from T.V. shows and film. I guess I did this because it...

Rules for directing by Jim Jarmusch:
lickystickypicky:
Rule #1: There are no rules. There are as many ways to make a film as there are potential filmmakers. It’s an open form. Anyway, I would personally never presume to tell anyone else what to do or how to do anything. To me that’s like telling someone else what their religious beliefs should be. Fuck that. That’s against my personal philosophy—more of a code than...
